Stand-Up Comedy w/ D.J. Demers and Greg Fleet
08 August 2018 8:00 pm
Heart of Darkness
Two comedians from opposite ends of the earth, at two different stages of their careers, with two contrasting styles.
That is what awaits comedy show goers at the next installment of international stand-up comedy at Heart of Darkness on Wednesday, August 8th.
Described by Simon Cowell on America’s Got Talent as “funny, original and likeable,” one of the first things that young award-winning Canadian comic D.J. Demers tells the audience is that he’s wearing hearing aids. It’s a piece of information that becomes a central part of his act.
Appearing on season 11 of America’s Got Talent, D.J. has also performed stand-up on Conan twice and was the winner of the 2014 Homegrown Comics Competition at the prestigious Just For Laughs festival in Montreal.
In 2017, D.J. toured the U.S. on the Here to Hear Comedy Tour, sponsored by Phonak, filming the entire experience along the way.
Greg Fleet, although born somewhere north of the Mexican wall, grew up in the Antipodes close to Melbourne. Starting out as an actor in the mid-1980s, his work included roles in Prisoner, Flying Doctors and then later, Neighbours.
However, Greg's passion has always been stand-up comedy, a passion that has not only seen him light up many a comedic stage but has also made him into a household name in Australia. His numerous appearances on TV and radio comedy programmes, as well as TV commercials pay testament to this.
