Crushed: A Kia gets the fall brunt of a fallen tree on Le Loi, Ho Chi Minh City

Wednesday May 28th marked the start of the rainy season this year with a storm descending on Ho Chi Minh City in torrential style. Not only were streets the city over flooded, but one of the age-old trees on the city's central thoroughfare, upped roots and collapsed.

Four cars were caught in the initial carnage although with a team brought in to cut away the fallen tree, two of the vehicles managed to depart the scene fairly quickly. A third, a taxi, was eventually cut away after half an hour while a Kia, which had been stationary when the tree fell and which took the brunt of the damaged, was removed later on.

Fortunately no-one was injured in the storm, although the Kia, which was parked on the side of the road at the time of the incident, was a write off.
