Whether you are a stay-at-home parent or both working, leaving your child and entrusting its life to the hands of a complete stranger is one of the hardest things you’ll ever have to do. I don’t know how many times I’ve been with new mothers in Hanoi and heard them complain that: “You just can’t get good help these days!”

If you’re new to Hanoi, then first and foremost, welcome to your new home. I sincerely hope that you will make true and lasting friends and memories in your time here. There is a lovely community of parents with children that will warmly welcome you and assimilate you into this place we now call home.

So Donald Trump is the new president-elect of the USA and people are acting like the world will come to an end. Using the tactics of “us” against “them” and separating Americans as a people is not a new tactic — it has been proven to work time and time again. The media has done a wonderful job in helping instil fear into the minds of people, all Trump had to do was play on that.

Breast-feeding in public has become one of those controversial debates. A recent incident in Claridge’s Hotel in London where a woman was asked to cover up while breast-feeding may have sparked the controversy, with the reach social media has these days.

You can call it a myth if you will, but that’s me at my best friend’s wedding exactly one year ago and I caught the bouquet (and no, she did not throw it to me.) And now I’m getting married, I really am the next one in line. I have lived in Hanoi for three years teaching English. Now my life is about to change in the most dramatic way and I have no idea how to adapt to the change.
